Tura, Aug 12: Koksi Mahari secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mankin Mahari in Match No. 3 of the 6th Men’s Inter-Mahari Football Tournament at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School Artificial Turf playground in Chandmary, Tura, on Tuesday.
The match was played over two 30-minute halves, with Mankin taking the opening kick-off after winning the toss.
Both teams remained evenly matched during the first half, with neither side able to break the deadlock as the opening 30 minutes ended goalless.
The match came to life after the interval when Koksi Mahari opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Sengsram K. Sangma.
Koksi doubled their advantage in the 46th minute when Chehan K. Sangma found the net to make it 2-0.

Mankin responded immediately, pulling one back just a minute later through Bilcham M. Sangma in the 47th minute.
With the score at 2-1, Mankin pushed forward in search of an equaliser during the closing stages. However, they were unable to convert their chances as Koksi held on to secure the victory.
The match also saw two yellow cards for Mankin Mahari, with Bilcham M. Sangma booked in the 44th minute and Alan M. Sangma receiving a yellow card in the 55th minute for a foul.
Koksi Mahari therefore secured the 2-1 win and progressed in the men’s tournament.
