Indian para-athlete Ayush Verma clinched the gold medal in the men’s shot put F53 event at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Nagoya on Wednesday, taking India’s gold medal count to 10 and overall medal tally to 38.
Ayush produced a best throw of 8.16 metres on his fifth attempt in the seated throwing event to secure the top spot on the podium.
The victory marked Ayush’s second medal at the continental multi-sport event. He had earlier won bronze in the men’s javelin F53/54 event on Tuesday, making it a successful campaign for the Indian para-athlete.
Ayush’s gold added to India’s growing medal haul at the Games, with the country maintaining sixth position in the overall medal standings.
With several events continuing in Nagoya, India will look to build on its medal tally and improve its position in the standings.
