Shillong, Sept 22: Defending champions Langsning moved to the top of the Shillong Premier League 2026 table after a convincing 3-0 victory over Nangkiew Irat at the SSA Stadium here today.
All three goals came after the break, with Samuel Phawa opening the scoring in the 65th minute before Syed Ahmed doubled Langsning’s advantage six minutes later. Mebanshngain Kurkalang completed the victory in the 79th minute.
The result takes Langsning to 13 points from six matches, two clear of Mawlai and Shillong Lajong. Mawlai, however, have played a game fewer. Nangkiew Irat remain eighth with seven points.

Nangkiew Irat had the better of the early attacking opportunities, with Yhoto Lohe testing the Langsning defence on several occasions. His efforts, however, were either off target or lacked the power to trouble goalkeeper Rajat Paul Lyngdoh.
Langsning also threatened before half-time. Kyrmenskhem Mukhim struck the outside of the net, while Nangkiew goalkeeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar denied Richie Kharbani with a good save. Mebanshngain also came close when his volley bounced off the turf and over the crossbar.
Langsning stepped up their game after the interval, with Samuel introduced at half-time making an immediate impact. The forward capitalised on a lapse in the Nangkiew defence to put the defending champions ahead in the 65th minute.

Six minutes later, Langsning doubled their lead when Syed Ahmed headed home a cross to make it 2-0.
Mebanshngain then completed the scoring in the 79th minute. After seeing an earlier effort blocked by Surjay, he found the net with his next opportunity to put the result beyond doubt.
Nangkiew Irat struggled to create a meaningful response but had two late efforts through Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw. Neither attempt, however, was close to troubling the Langsning goal.

Rangdajied United will face Nongkseh on Wednesday at 3pm. Both sides currently have seven points, with Nongkseh ahead on goal difference at +5, while Rangdajied are on 0. Nangkiew Irat have dropped to -3 following Tuesday’s defeat.
