Shillong, Sept 23: Meghalaya assistant referee Shidalin L Marshillong has been upgraded to Category 5 by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), making her eligible to officiate national-level matches.
Marshillong cleared the Level 5 upgradation practical examination for women, along with two officials from Nagaland. Following the successful completion of the examination, she was upgraded to Category 5 with immediate effect, according to AIFF Head of Referees, S. Suresh.
Category 5 referees and assistant referees are eligible to officiate in national-level competitions.
Her achievement adds to the recent progress of Meghalaya’s football officiating fraternity. Over the past few months, three other state officials have attained Category 5 status — referee Pipilmoris Wanniang, referee Pynskhemhame Mawthoh and assistant referee Jespar Syiemlieh.
The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA), in collaboration with the Meghalaya government, has been working to strengthen football in the state across various levels, including grassroots development, senior competitions, women’s football, the development of match officials and the hosting of high-level competitions.
