Shillong, Sept 3: Defending champions Langsning produced a dominant attacking display to thrash Laitkor 6-1 in the Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2026 at the SSA Stadium on Wednesday.
Mebanshngain Kurkalang (11’, 13’) scored twice inside the opening 12 minutes before Damonlang Pathaw (45’+2), Syed Ahmed (45’+4), Samuel L Kynshi (84’), and Rohan Manar (90’+4) completed a six-goal rout for the reigning champions.
Hamingbert Nongbet (53’) scored Laitkor’s only goal shortly after half-time, but Langsning responded strongly to put the result beyond doubt.
The match was originally scheduled for August 28 but had been postponed because of severe weather.
Langsning wasted little time taking control.
Mebanshngain opened the scoring in the 11th minute when he flicked a header into the net. Just two minutes later, he struck again, powering home to double Langsning’s advantage.
Mebanshngain was unable to complete the first half, however, after picking up an injury and being substituted.
His replacement, Damonlang, immediately made an impact. The forward scored Langsning’s third goal in the stoppage time, tapping in a cross to give the champions a commanding lead.
Langsning added another goal deep into first-half stoppage time. Damonlang turned provider this time, chipping the ball into the area for the unmarked Syed Ahmed to finish.
Laitkor responded with greater attacking intent after the interval and looked far more competitive following a number of attacking substitutions. One of their new introductions, Balajiedlang Lyngwa, headed a corner towards goal, but Langsning goalkeeper Nister Roy Suting made the initial save. The rebound fell to Hamingbert Nongbet, who headed home in the 53rd minute to give Laitkor a lifeline.
Any hopes of a comeback, however, were quickly extinguished.
Langsning regained control and continued to create chances before Samuel L Kynshi restored their four-goal advantage in the 84th minute. Samuel received the ball from Rohan Manar before curling a superb effort over Laitkor goalkeeper Deranius Wahlang.
The two then switched roles in stoppage time. This time Samuel turned provider, setting up Rohan Manar to score Langsning’s sixth and final goal in the 90’+4 minute.
The victory takes Langsning to nine points from their campaign and into third place in the standings.
Mawlai and Shillong Lajong occupy the top two positions with 10 points each, with Mawlai first on goal difference, while Laitkor remain eighth on three points.
