Khliehriat, June 24: The District Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026, organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), East Jaintia Hills District, continued at the East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association (EJHDSA) Football Ground in Deinchynrum, with teams securing their places in the semi-finals across different categories.
The quarter-finals were played across two days, witnessing intense competition in the Under-17 Boys, Under-17 Girls and Under-15 Boys categories.
On the first day of the quarter-finals, four matches were played in the Under-17 Boys category and one match in the Under-17 Girls category.
In the Under-17 Boys quarter-finals, Wapung Higher Secondary School edged past Presbyterian Higher Secondary School 4-1 in a tie-breaker after a closely fought encounter. Khliehriat Higher Secondary School booked their semi-final berth with a narrow 1-0 victory over Little Star Secondary School.
Sein Raij Tuber Higher Secondary School registered a convincing 3-0 win over Byndihati Secondary School, while Chiehruphi defeated KJP 2-0 to progress to the next round.
In the Under-17 Girls category, Khliehriat Higher Secondary School produced a dominant display, thrashing Little Star Secondary School 12-0 to advance to the semi-finals.
The second day of the quarter-final stage featured four matches in the Under-15 Boys category.
Sham Sham Secondary School secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Little Star Secondary School to move into the semi-finals. Musniang Secondary School also progressed after defeating Cambridge Secondary School by the same margin.
Step by Step Secondary School delivered one of the most impressive performances of the day, beating Iengswer Memorial Secondary School 5-0 to secure a semi-final berth. Wapung Higher Secondary School matched that result with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Saraswati Secondary School.
With the quarter-final stage nearing completion, the tournament is set to enter the decisive semi-final rounds as schools from across the district continue their quest for honours in the prestigious inter-school competition.
