Tura, Aug 8: Seltang FC were crowned champions of the Tura Football League 2026-27 Second Division after defeating Chada United Sports Association (CUSA) 4-2 in the final at the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Playground in Chandmary on Friday.
The final was attended by retired Director of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Dikki D. Shira, retired Assistant Director Jasper P. Marak, and officials of the District Football Association (DFA), who later presented the trophies and individual awards.
Seltang were the better side for most of the match, controlling possession and creating the better chances. They took the lead in the 33rd minute when Kennibirth B. Marak found the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 advantage at half-time.

The champions continued their dominance after the break. Fifteenbirth Ch. Marak doubled the lead in the 42nd minute before Teobirth A. Sangma added a third four minutes later. Lambai Sangma then made it 4-0 in the 56th minute, putting Seltang firmly in control of the contest.
CUSA responded with a spirited fightback in the closing stages. Irish Marak pulled one back in the 65th minute before Balsan Sangma scored again in the 76th minute to reduce the deficit to 4-2. The runners-up created a few more chances in search of another goal, but Seltang held their nerve to seal the victory and lift the Second Division title.
Seltang also dominated the individual awards. Niksam N. Sangma was named Best Goalkeeper, Chrisbirth R. Sangma won the Best Defender award, Belju Momin was adjudged Best Midfielder, while Fifteenbirth Ch. Marak received the Best Forward award.
CUSA’s Irish Marak was named Player of the Final, while teammate Balsan Sangma won the Player of the League award. Morning FC’s Akash Rabha finished as the division’s top scorer with 14 goals.

As champions, Seltang FC received the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 70,000, while runners-up CUSA were awarded Rs. 50,000 along with the runners-up trophy. Both teams have secured promotion to the First Division for next season.
