Tura, Aug 1: A five-day High Performance Camp for young professional cricketers from across Garo Hills got underway on Saturday, bringing together some of the region’s most promising talent for intensive training and development.
Around 40 players from different parts of Garo Hills are taking part in the camp, which aims to enhance their skills and prepare them for higher levels of competitive cricket.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dikki D Shira, retired Director of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, and president of the Tura District Cricket Association, as the chief guest.
Also present at the opening ceremony were selectors from the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), including the senior men’s selector, Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16 selectors, as well as the women’s team selector.
The camp is expected to provide participants with advanced coaching and valuable exposure while giving MCA selectors an opportunity to assess emerging talent from the Garo Hills region.
