Indian wushu star Roshibina Devi Naorem added another Asian Games medal to her impressive career, settling for silver in the women’s 60kg sanda event after losing to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final.
Roshibina went down 0-2 in the title bout, with Zhang dominating both rounds 5-0 to seal a comprehensive 10-0 victory on aggregate and claim the gold medal.
Despite the defeat, the Indian pugilist’s silver marked her third Asian Games medal, underlining her consistency at the continental level.
The Manipuri athlete had earlier won silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang edition.
Roshibina’s latest podium finish adds another significant chapter to her Asian Games journey and keeps India’s wushu campaign in the spotlight.
For the Northeast, which has consistently produced international-level wushu talent, Roshibina’s achievement is another reminder of the region’s contribution to Indian sport.
While the gold eluded her this time, Roshibina leaves the competition with a third Asian Games medal — a remarkable record of sustained excellence on the continental stage.
