Shillong, July 9: Weilyngkut Area FCC booked their place in the semi-finals of the SSA U-20 4th Division Football League 2026 after defeating tournament favourites Nongkseh United FC 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time on Thursday.
Playing at the SSA Ground, Weilyngkut Area FCC took the lead in the 43rd minute through Banskhem Kharkrang. Nongkseh United FC responded after the break with Samphrangshai Rani finding the equaliser in the 55th minute.
With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the quarter-final was decided from the penalty spot, where Weilyngkut Area FCC emerged 4-2 winners to advance to the last four.
With this victory, Weilyngkut Area FCC not only booked a place in the semi-finals but also earned promotion to the SSA 3rd Division for the 2027 season.
Lumparing SC hammer Iaitylli SC 6-1
In the SSA SRGT 3rd Division Football League, Lumparing SC produced the day’s most dominant performance with a convincing 6-1 victory over Iaitylli SC at the MFA Ground.
Nathaniel Kharkongor gave Lumparing the perfect start with goals in the fourth and eighth minutes, while Joslang Lyngkhoi struck twice in quick succession in the fifth and 14th minutes to put his side in complete control. Riskhem Syiem added the fifth goal in the 33rd minute before Pynbianglang Nongkhlaw completed the scoring in the 65th minute. Iaitylli SC managed a late consolation through Melawantei Kharlukhi (80+2’) in the second-half stoppage time.
Earlier at the SSA Ground, Pomlakrai SC edged Lapalang SC 1-0 courtesy of a 54th-minute strike from Pynkhrehkloi Marbaniang.
Friday’s fixtures will see Rynjah SC take on Nongumlong SC in the SSA SRGT 3rd Division Football League at the SSA Ground from 1 pm. Later, Laitlyngkot SC will meet Seila Sap FCC in another quarter-final of the SSA U-20 4th Division Football League at the same venue, with kick-off scheduled for 4 pm.
