Shillong, June 3: A 41-member team from the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) is set to represent the state at the 5th KIO Sub-Junior, Cadet & Junior National Karate Championship 2026, which will be held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from June 4 to 7.
According to AMKA, the Meghalaya team comprises talented karatekas competing across various kata and kumite categories in the sub-junior, cadet and junior divisions. The team comprises of 19 boys and 15 girls.
The team will be led by Donboklang Lyngdoh, Pynhunlang Kharbuli and Ester Mary Lyngdoh as team officials, while Banrilang L. Nonglait, Na OO Man Kiwi War Passah, Albert Pyngrope, and Banteilang Pdahsiej will serve as Technical Officials for the championship.
Among the athletes representing Meghalaya are Pusaimi I. Kyndiah, Jefferson Rani, Jason M. Malngiang, Nathaniel Levin Suting, Badondor Ryntathiang, Emika Deimaia Myrthong, Fidelity Rani and several others who qualified in different age and weight categories.
AMKA expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and extended its best wishes to all participating athletes and officials. The association said it hopes the team will perform to the best of its abilities and bring pride to Meghalaya on the national stage.
