Shillong, Sept 28: Nongkseh continued their strong run in the Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2026 with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sawmer at the SSA Stadium here on Monday, moving up to third place in the standings.
Kitboklang Pale opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Mebankhraw Wahlang doubled Nongkseh’s advantage seven minutes later. Captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri completed the scoring in the 88th minute as Nongkseh secured their third consecutive win.
The victory takes Nongkseh to 13 points from seven matches, lifting them above Mawlai, who have 12 points from six games. Sawmer remain sixth with nine points.
Sawmer managed to keep Nongkseh at bay during the opening half-hour, but Kitboklang broke the deadlock in impressive fashion. The Nongkseh forward brought down a long ball on his chest, went past Khrawkupar Tamu and fired a powerful left-footed effort into the net.
Nongkseh doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Hardy delivered a corner towards the far post, where Mebankhraw rose to head the ball home.

Sawmer goalkeeper Pyrshangbanbha Dkhar produced two good saves late in the first half to prevent Nongkseh from extending their advantage before the break.
Nongkseh continued to create opportunities after the restart, with Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Shano Tariang both sending efforts wide.
Hardy eventually added a third in the 88th minute. Kitboklang carried the ball into the box before cutting it back to the Nongkseh captain, who calmly placed his effort low into the net.
Sawmer came closest to scoring in the 70th minute when Wanshanlang Dkhar’s long-range free-kick struck the crossbar.
On Tuesday, fourth-placed Mawlai will face fifth-placed Meghalaya Police at the SSA Stadium at 3pm.
