Shillong, Aug 5: Valley View Secondary School on Tuesday felicitated its judokas for their impressive performance at the Inter-School East Khasi Hills (EKH) District Judo Championship 2026, where the school finished as overall runners-up with a total of 23 medals.
The felicitation programme was held on the school campus in the presence of Principal E. Phira, Assistant Principal A. Warjri, Judo Teacher Phiyona Nongbet, coach Gibil G. Momin, teachers and students.
Congratulating the athletes, Assistant Principal A. Warjri praised their dedication, discipline and hard work in bringing laurels to the school. The medal winners were also greeted with applause from fellow students during the ceremony.
The championship, organised by the East Khasi Hills Judo Association, was held at the Mawpat Multipurpose Hall from July 31 to August 1.
Valley View finished the competition with an impressive tally of 23 medals, comprising five gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals.
The gold medallists were Sahil Singh, Smalamok T. Sangma, Dev Basumatary, Mewanbanshan Nongsiej and Anu Kumari.

Silver medals were won by Sajid Ali, Amdon Kumar, Cynthia Riahtam, Shinali Koch, Stephenson Lyngdoh, Jarrett Felix Lyngkhoi and Hamebanshan Nongsiej.
The bronze medallists were Amdon Das, Harshit Singh, Kunal Sharma, Sohani Kumari, Anjaan Basumatary, Sanjana Rai, Pratik Paul, Sanjay Rai, Salgit R. Marak, Sandhya Kumari and Banisha Warjri.
The school’s runners-up finish reflected the consistent efforts of its students, coaches and management in developing young sporting talent and promoting judo among its students.
