Shillong, Aug 13: A’chik Warriors MMA Tura made their debut at the DFL Dojang Fight League in Guwahati, with three fighters representing the club in kickboxing from August 8 to 10.
The competition was held at Long Acres in Guwahati, where the three fighters competed for the prestigious title belt.
Two of the Meghalaya fighters were unable to progress after losing their respective bouts, while the third advanced to the semi-finals and secured a bronze medal.
Despite the mixed results, A’chik Warriors MMA Tura said all three fighters displayed determination, courage and fighting spirit throughout the competition. The club said it would use the experience to improve ahead of future competitions.
The team also competed while recovering from injuries sustained during the India National MMA Championship, adding to the challenge faced by the fighters.
A’chik Warriors MMA Tura also expressed gratitude to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for his continued support and encouragement, saying his assistance had helped the fighters compete at national-level events and represent Meghalaya.
Following their debut at the DFL Dojang Fight League, A’chik Warriors MMA Tura said they will build on the experience and prepare for their next competitions, with the aim of bringing the title belt to the state as well as pride to Garo Hills and Meghalaya in combat sports.
