Shillong, May 7: A’chik SCO Rongjeng (ASCOR) came from two goals down to defeat Balmanduri FC 3-2 in Group G of the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5) at Williamnagar on Thursday, ending their campaign on a winning note.
Balmanduri looked set for victory after Chichang M Momin struck twice in the first half (27’, 33’), but ASCOR mounted a strong comeback after the break. Captain Sensial Sangma pulled one back in the 54th minute before Klubarth M Sangma equalised in the 78th. Keri G Momin then completed the turnaround with the winner two minutes from time.
The victory saw ASCOR finish third in Group G, ending their campaign with four wins and four defeats from eight matches. Keri continued his impressive form this season, taking his tally to 13 goals — currently the second-highest in the league.
Balmanduri still have one fixture remaining against group leaders Janepih YSCA.
In Group E at Wahiajer, Iatyllilang Lumsehkot CSC defeated Lamyrsiang SCC 3-0 in a clash between the third and fourth-placed teams. Both sides had already been eliminated from pre-quarterfinal contention before the match.

Meanwhile, two more matches are scheduled for Friday, with Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC taking on Shillong Lajong FC in Group E, while Lawbah SC face Mishon SSCC in a crucial Group F encounter at Mairang.
Although Shillong Lajong and Lumphyrnai Sohphoh have already secured qualification, the Group F match could still impact the standings, with Lawbah needing a big win to overtake Mishon for second place.
