India defeated Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the second women’s T20 International to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Sunday.
Openers Shafali Verma and captain Smriti Mandhana starred in the chase, scoring 55 and 47 not out respectively as India comfortably chased down the target of 103 in just 8.5 overs.
After winning the toss, Zimbabwe opted to bat but struggled against the Indian bowling attack, managing only 102 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Niki Prasad was the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming two wickets for just seven runs.
India had won the opening T20I by four wickets on Friday, and Sunday’s emphatic victory sealed the series with one match remaining.
