India to open title defence against Bangladesh on October 27; Malaysia replaces Pakistan in November 1 fixture.
Pakistan have withdrawn from the Men’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2026 after failing to secure government clearance to travel to India.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation had sought a neutral venue, citing security concerns and bilateral tensions, but the request was rejected by the organisers.
Bangladesh have been named as Pakistan’s replacement in the six-team tournament, which will be held from October 27 to November 5, with league matches in Jalandhar and knockouts in Mohali.
Defending champions India will begin their campaign against Bangladesh on October 27. Their November 1 fixture, originally scheduled against Pakistan, will now be played against Malaysia.
India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and China will compete for the title as India look to defend their crown on home soil.
