Khliehriat, June 26: Sein Raij Tuber Higher Secondary School and Wapung Higher Secondary School on Thursday secured their places in the final of the Under-17 Boys category on the second day of the semi-finals of the East Jaintia Hills (EJH) District Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026.
The tournament is being organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), East Jaintia Hills, at the East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association (EJHDSA) Football Ground, Deinchynrum.
The opening semi-final between Sein Raij Tuber Higher Secondary School and Chiehruphi Higher Secondary School produced an exciting contest that ended in a penalty shootout. After the teams remained deadlocked at the end of regulation time, Sein Raij Tuber Higher Secondary School held their nerve to win 4-2 on penalties and advance to the title clash.
In the second semi-final, Wapung Higher Secondary School edged past Khliehriat Higher Secondary School 1-0 in a closely contested encounter to complete the line-up for the championship match.
The two winning schools will now face each other in the final of the Under-17 Boys category as they vie for the district title.
