Tura, May 26: Shallang Super Cops held their nerve in a tense finale to emerge champions of the 4th edition of the P. A. Sangma Memorial Day & Night Cricket Tournament, defeating Club Mean Machine by a narrow margin of three runs at the Police Parade Ground in Tura on Sunday.
The tournament, regarded as one of the biggest local cricket events in the region, featured 84 teams and a total of 81 matches in this year’s edition, drawing strong participation and enthusiastic crowds throughout the competition.

Batting first in the 10-over summit clash, Shallang Super Cops posted 123/8 in a challenging contest. In reply, Club Mean Machine fought hard during the chase and kept the contest alive till the final overs, but eventually finished at 120/6, falling short by just three runs.
Following the victory, Shallang Super Cops walked away with the championship trophy and a cash award of Rs 3 lakh, while runners-up Club Mean Machine received Rs 1 lakh.
Denikcheng Ch Marak of Shallang Super Cops was named Man of the Match for his crucial contribution in the final. Dipankar Hajong of Mean Machine secured the Best Bowler award, while Chinabirth of Chidare team was adjudged Man of the Series for his consistent performances during the tournament.

The final witnessed a large turnout of spectators and was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including MLAs Subir Marak, Sanjay Sangma and Ian Botham Sangma, along with TMB Chairman J. D. Sangma, former MCA president Danny Marak and GHADC MDCs Sanjay Koch and Linekar K Sangma.
