Shillong, June 11: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has launched a talent identification drive, and asked all affiliated District Cricket Associations to submit names of promising but unregistered cricketers across multiple age categories.
The directive was given by MCA President James PK Sangma on Wednesday following a notification from the Cricket Advisory Sub-Committee, and is aimed at strengthening Meghalaya’s overall player pool.
Districts have been asked to nominate five players per category for both men and women, covering Senior, Under-23, Under-19, Under-16 (Boys), and Under-15 (Girls) categories.
Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA) and Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) have been given a higher quota of 10 players per category for both men and women.
Submission deadlines are June 12, 2026 for Senior, U-23, and U-19 categories, and June 16, 2026 for U-16 and U-15 categories.
Selected players must carry originals and photocopies of their Birth Certificate, Aadhar Card, latest educational certificate, and two passport-size photographs.
The age cut-offs for each category are as follows: Under-23 players must have been born on or after 1st September 2003, while Under-19 players must be born on or after 1st September 2007. For the Under-16 category, eligible players are those born between 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2012. Under-15 girls must have been born between 1st September 2011 and 31st August 2014.
The Cricket Advisory Sub-Committee Chairman Jason J. Lamare has urged districts to ensure only genuinely talented and eligible players are nominated, and to strictly adhere to the submission deadlines.
