Shillong, April 30: The West Garo Hills District Boxing Association delivered a strong performance at the State Boxing Championship held in Shillong from April 27 to 30, securing a total of seven medals — one gold, two silver and four bronze.
In the junior category (15–16 years), Challang D. Arengh clinched the lone gold medal in the 57–60 kg division. Alyn M. Marak secured a silver in the 54–57 kg category, while Nambearo M. Sangma (44–48 kg), Micah C.H. Momin (50–52 kg) and Aaron T. Sangma (52–54 kg) each won bronze medals.
In the youth category (17–18 years), Casbe K. Marak won a silver medal and was also named Emerging Boxer of the Championship, while Chegado Kuringsal D. Momin claimed a bronze in the 48–50 kg division.
The achievement highlights the team’s discipline and preparation under the guidance of Balnas Sangma, Secretary of the West Garo Hills District Boxing Association and assistant coach, who accompanied and trained the athletes throughout the competition.
