NAGOYA, September 28, 2026: India’s Lovlina Borgohain booked her place in the women’s 75kg semifinals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with a commanding 5-0 unanimous-decision victory over South Korea’s Seong Suyeon on Monday.
The Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist produced a composed and assured performance in her quarterfinal bout, controlling the contest from the outset and leaving little room for her Korean opponent to make an impact.
Lovlina’s sharp combinations, ring control and effective defence helped her secure the unanimous verdict from all five judges, as she comfortably progressed to the last four.
The victory guarantees Lovlina at least a bronze medal in Nagoya, while she will now turn her attention to the semifinal as she looks to move one step closer to the gold medal.
The Assam boxer has remained one of India’s prominent names in international boxing over the past few years. Her Olympic bronze at Tokyo 2020 marked a historic moment for Indian boxing and established her as a major force in the women’s 69kg/75kg category.
At Aichi-Nagoya, Lovlina will be aiming to add another major Asian Games medal to her growing international collection.
Her emphatic quarterfinal victory also strengthens India’s boxing campaign as the competition enters its decisive stage.
