The West Garo Hills contingent competed with 11 athletes and one official, putting up a strong showing at the state-level competition. The team won two gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

In a press statement, the Wrestling Association of West Garo Hills attributed the achievement to the athletes’ hard work, discipline and dedication, along with the efforts of their coaches in preparing the team for the championship.
The association wrestling team also expressed gratitude to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for his continued support and encouragement towards the participation and development of athletes.
The team acknowledged that such support has played an important role in enabling young athletes from the district to compete at the state level.
With the successful championship campaign, the association now aims to build on the performance and continue developing wrestling talent in the district while aspiring for greater success in future competitions. “This is only the beginning. We will work harder, dream bigger, and continue to make West Garo Hills and Meghalaya proud!” the association affirmed.
