Tura, Sept 3: The ongoing 2nd District Level Inter-School Games 2026 has transformed Tura into a buzzing sports hub, with hundreds of young student-athletes showcasing their skill, spirit, and determination across eight disciplines hosted simultaneously at key venues across the town.
Tura saw action across all locations, including track and field at Pa Togan Nengminja Stadium in Dakopgre, swimming event was held at the Rongkhon Swimming Pool, volleyball at the New Tura Secondary School playground, kabaddi at the Mission Compound field, and racquet sports like Table Tennis and Badminton at the Hawakhana Indoor Hall.

With the multi-sport event moving toward its conclusion, several fixtures wrapped up intense final rounds ahead of the grand prize distribution ceremony scheduled for Thursday.
The Matchakolgre Community Hall basketball court witnessed high energy and competitive action on Wednesday as the basketball tournament entered its final stretch.
The day started off with third-place playoff matches in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions. The main highlight was the girls’ final clash, where Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura, took on St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in a championship duel. Don Bosco held a consistent upper hand from the opening whistle, taking control of the pace to secure a convincing 26–4 victory and claim the girls’ basketball championship trophy.

Attention now turns to the boys’ basketball final, which will be played on Thursday, September 3, at the Don Bosco College basketball court.
Meanwhile, the Taekwondo tournament hosted at the Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section saw intense action across the Sub-junior, Junior, and Cadet categories in both boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Featuring participation from more than 100 students from schools across the district, the bouts concluded their final rounds of various weight class on Wednesday, with several young martial artists expressing keen interest in pursuing the sport professionally.

The tournament has drawn enthusiastic participation from school teams eager to secure top honors, showcase grit, and represent their institutions with pride.
