Tura, July 11: The Second Division of the Tura Football League 2026-27 has entered an exciting second round of fixtures, witnessing high-scoring encounters as Mandagre Youth Club and Rom Agal Youth Club registered dominant victories in their respective matches to keep the competitive spirit soaring in the ongoing tournament at the GBHSS playground in Chandmary, Tura on Friday.
Mandagre Youth Club vs Gambegre Youth Club
In the first match of the day, Mandagre Youth Club put on a ruthless attacking display utterly dismantling Gambegre Youth Club with an authoritative 9-0 victory. Salgam Marak was the star of the match, netting a spectacular hat-trick with goals in the 18th, 51st, and 79th minutes. The goal-fest was further fueled by substitute Lezra Sangma, who scored a quick-fire brace in the 65th and 69th minutes.
Nangson Sangma opened the first-half onslaught in the 35th minute, while Hilbirth Sangma, Katchan Sangma, and Jimney Sangma also registered their names on the scoresheet in the 46th, 53rd and 63rd minute respectively, leaving Gambegre completely overwhelmed and unable to open their account.
The game also saw its only cautionary card awarded to Katchan Sangma of Mandagre YC in the 60th minute for a foul.
Sesengpara Youth Cultural Club vs Rom Agal Youth Club
The footballing momentum carried seamlessly into the second fixture where Rom Agal Youth Club cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Sesengpara Youth Cultural Club.
Rom Agal YC maintained a decent ball possession right from kick-off and established an early lead through S. Pantora B Sangma in the 10th minute, which was steadily doubled by Silseng M Sangma finding the net in the 26th minute mark.
Barna Ch Marak extended the lead further in the 39th minute mark before second-half substitute Minseng M Marak sealed the emphatic win in the 70th minute, capping off a clinical performance that left the Sesengpara defense thoroughly frustrated.
The second bout saw a lawful gameplay with no cautionary cards allotted to any players.
Beyond the goal-fest, the day’s sporting event also featured a vital youth welfare initiative as the JA•PANG NGO organized an awareness program on drug and substance abuse at the venue. Fifth-semester student interns from both Don Bosco College, Tura, and Tura Christian College led the initiative, speaking extensively about the severe consequences of substance abuse.
The passionate interns also performed an impactful short skit depicting the devastating physical and social toll drug addiction takes on individuals, families, and the wider community. Held as part of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking celebrations under the national theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan,” the campaign was conducted in close collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office and the DREAM Project Meghalaya.
