Shillong, Oct 8: Sawmer came from a goal down to beat Mylliem 2-1 in the final Shillong Premier League 2026 match for both teams at the SSA Stadium here on Thursday, moving into fifth place and strengthening their hopes of qualifying for the SSA Super Cup.
Mylliem took the lead just before half-time through Daohipaia Rymbai (45′), but Sawmer produced a strong response after the break. Banteilang Lyngdoh equalised in the 77th minute before Bickyson Kharkongor (81′) completed the comeback four minutes later.
The victory took Sawmer to 12 points and lifted them from seventh to fifth in the standings. However, their place in the SSA Super Cup is not yet secure, with the top six teams qualifying for the competition.
Meghalaya Police, currently on 11 points, and Rangdajied United, on 10, can still overtake Sawmer with their remaining matches. Meghalaya Police face Laitkor on Friday, while Rangdajied also have a game in hand.
Mylliem, meanwhile, ended a difficult SPL campaign at the bottom of the table with just one point from nine matches. They suffered eight defeats and will be relegated to the First Division next season.
The result also marked the third occasion this season that Mylliem lost a match after taking the lead.

Mylliem had threatened from distance in the opening half but had to wait until the 45th minute to break the deadlock. Daohipaia found the net past Sawmer goalkeeper Urbanity Makhroh to give his side a 1-0 advantage at the interval.
Sawmer looked for an immediate response after the restart, with Diego Khyriem shooting wide early in the half. Mylliem came close to extending their advantage at the other end when Remark Kharmalki fired over the crossbar.
Sawmer eventually found their equaliser in the 77th minute when Banteilang Lyngdoh curled his effort beyond Mylliem goalkeeper Franklyn Surong.
Mylliem’s defence then came under increasing pressure, and Sawmer completed the turnaround four minutes later. Diego broke down the left from near halfway before delivering a cross for Bickyson Kharkongor, who finished to make it 2-1.
The defeat confirmed Mylliem’s relegation, while Sawmer must now wait for the remaining league results to determine whether their 12 points will be enough to secure a place in the SSA Super Cup.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Police will face Laitkor at 3pm on Friday. Incidentally, Thursday’s result also ensured that ninth-placed Laitkor will be relegated as well. Though they can tie eighth-placed Nangkiew Irat on 9 points if they beat MLP on Friday, Nangkiew Irat have head-to-head advantage having defeated Laitkor on August 25.
