Aichi-Nagoya, September 30: India completed a stunning hat-trick of gold medals in compound archery at the 2026 Asian Games as Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru produced a dramatic comeback to edge China 238-237 in the men’s team final.
India trailed by two points after the opening end, with China making a perfect start. But the Indian trio responded with remarkable composure, matching China through the next stages before turning the contest around in the final end.
The Indians held their nerve when it mattered most, with Sahil Jadhav particularly impressive, shooting eight arrows in the final without dropping below a 10. Kushal and Ganesh also recovered strongly after their opening 9s and remained composed under intense pressure.
The 238-237 victory completed India’s sweep of the three compound team gold medals on Wednesday. Earlier, the women’s team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated China 238-234, while Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav won the mixed team gold after beating South Korea in a shoot-off.
It is another statement performance from India’s compound archers, who had swept all five compound gold medals at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. India have now successfully defended three of those team titles in Aichi-Nagoya.
With the team events completed, attention now turns to the individual compound competitions, where Ganesh Mani Ratnam remains in contention in the men’s event.
India 238-237 China. Gold for India. Another golden chapter for Indian archery.
