Shillong, Sept 21: Meghalaya Police produced a dominant performance to defeat bottom-placed Mylliem 5-0 in the Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2026 at the SSA Stadium here on Monday.
Balmingstar Lyngkhoi was the star of the evening, scoring three times in the 4th, 31st and 68th minutes to complete his hat-trick. Everestarly Rynjah added another in the 62nd minute, while Mylliem defender Fedrick Wahlang turned the ball into his own net in the 77th minute.
The victory proved particularly valuable for Meghalaya Police in a tightly packed SPL table. The three points lifted MLP from eighth to third, with the police side level on points with defending champions Langsning but ahead on head-to-head record.
Mylliem, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom with just one point from six matches and now face an uphill battle to avoid relegation.

Balmingstar opened the scoring after just four minutes, capitalising on an error in the Mylliem defence. Mylliem defender Fedrick’s attempted back pass to goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh was slowed by the wet surface, allowing Balmingstar to race onto the loose ball and slot it past the advancing goalkeeper.
The forward doubled MLP’s advantage in the 31st minute. Rapborlang Marwein worked the ball down the right before delivering a cross into the box, where Balmingstar rose to head the ball beyond Rihoklang.
Mylliem struggled to create a response after the break and were punished again in the 62nd minute. Bisharlang Kharumnuid sent a ball into the box from the left, with Everestarly Rynjah arriving to tap it home and make it 3-0.
Balmingstar completed his hat-trick seven minutes later following another defensive mistake from Mylliem. Wanpynshngain Nongsteng gave the ball away, allowing the MLP forward to shoot, with his effort slipping through Rihoklang’s hands and finding the net.
Mylliem’s misery was completed in the 77th minute when Fedrick was again involved. Rapborlang delivered a cross into the box and, while attempting to intercept it, Fedrick’s sliding challenge sent the ball into his own goal.

Fedrick had earlier produced one of Mylliem’s few positive moments when he threw himself in front of an Everestarly effort to prevent another goal.
Mylliem offered little threat in attack despite coming into the match after an impressive 3-3 draw against Shillong Lajong. Meghalaya Police, meanwhile, recorded their first clean sheet of the season.
The match also marked a clean-sheet debut for MLP goalkeeper Basuklang Nongsiej, who had relatively little to do as his side controlled the game.
Langsning will have the opportunity to move to the top of the table on Tuesday when they take on Nangkiew Irat at 3pm.
