Shillong, Aug 18: True North will organise its inaugural Open Swimming Competition and Masters Meet in September, bringing together swimmers ranging from seven-year-olds to athletes aged 70 and above.
The two-day competition will be held on September 11 and 12 at the True North complex in Lapalang and will be open to all domiciled residents of Meghalaya.
The meet will feature Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Masters categories, with participants competing across various swimming events.
Individual swimmers, teams and swimming clubs from across the state are eligible to participate. The organisers said the event is intended to promote swimming as both a competitive sport and a healthy activity for people of different age groups.
Registration forms are available offline at True North centres in Mission Compound and Lapalang. Participants can also register online through links available on True North’s official Facebook and Instagram pages, with QR codes also provided on the social media platforms and in newspaper advertisements.
The organisers said all primary communication regarding the competition will be conducted through WhatsApp.
Participants travelling from outside Shillong will have to make their own accommodation arrangements, as the organisers will not provide lodging.
