Shillong, Aug 17: The Shillong Premier League 2026 will resume on Tuesday (August 18), with Meghalaya Police taking on defending champions Langsning FC at the SSA Stadium. The match will kick off at 4pm.
The SPL was suspended after the opening seven matches of the season to accommodate the ongoing Durand Cup 2026, which features three teams from the league: Shillong Lajong FC, Langsning FC and Nongkseh Sports Social & Cultural Club.
Langsning made a winning start to their title defence, defeating Sawmer SC 1-0 in the opening match, while Meghalaya Police began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Rangdajied United FC.
With Langsning and Nongkseh already eliminated from the Durand Cup, both clubs can now turn their attention back to the SPL. Shillong Lajong, meanwhile, remain in the Durand Cup, although they are using a separate squad for their SPL campaign.
Most of the remaining SPL fixtures have been scheduled for 4pm kick-offs, with a few high-profile encounters set to be played later in the evening.
The 2026 season is being played in a single round-robin format and is scheduled to conclude on October 10.
The top six teams at the end of the league phase will qualify for the SSA Super Cup. The SPL champions and runners-up will also earn qualification for the SSA Champions Cup, which will be played after the conclusion of the league season.
With the league now set to resume, Tuesday’s meeting between Meghalaya Police and Langsning will mark the beginning of the second phase of the SPL 2026 campaign.
