Shillong, July 5: Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat, Balang Mawlangwir Higher Secondary School, Mawlangwir, and Rangthong Christian Higher Secondary School emerged champions in their respective categories at the South West Khasi Hills District-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026.
Organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer, South West Khasi Hills, the tournament concluded on Thursday at the Artificial Turf Ground of the Mawkyrwat District Sports Association (MDSA) in Nonglang.

Maharam Government Higher Secondary School clinched the Under-15 Boys’ title with a 2-0 victory over Little Star Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat. Bechanskhem Kharwar opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej sealed the win with a second goal in the 47th minute.
In the Under-17 Girls’ final, Rangthong Christian Higher Secondary School defeated Little Star Higher Secondary School 2-0. Rosimery Sohshang gave her side the lead in the 21st minute, while Wanrahjingkmen Khardewsaw doubled the advantage in the 33rd minute.

Balang Mawlangwir Higher Secondary School lifted the Under-17 Boys’ title after defeating Rangthong Christian Higher Secondary School 2-1 in the final. Kheiñkorlang Thongni scored both goals for the champions in the 17th and 38th minutes to guide his team to victory.

The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills, A.L. Mawlong, as the chief guest. District Sports Officer D. Marwein, teachers, students and office-bearers of the Mawkyrwat District Sports Association (MDSA) were also present.
The three champion schools will now represent South West Khasi Hills District at the State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament in Shillong.
