School to represent the district in all three categories at the state-level championship in Shillong
Shillong, July 5: Little Star English Medium Secondary School made a clean sweep at the Eastern West Khasi Hills District-Level Inter-School Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026, winning all three categories to qualify for the state-level championship in Shillong.
Organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), Eastern West Khasi Hills, the district tournament concluded on Friday at Dom Mawlum Ground, Pyndengumiong, Mairang, with the finals of the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Under-17 Girls competitions.
By virtue of their victories, Little Star English Medium Secondary School will represent Eastern West Khasi Hills District in all three categories at the State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026.
In the Under-15 Boys final, Little Star defeated St. Joseph Higher Secondary School 5-1. The school’s Under-17 Boys side followed it up with a dominant 4-0 win over Langtor Higher Secondary School, while the Under-17 Girls team secured a 2-0 victory against Mawkhar Presbyterian Secondary School to complete a memorable treble.
The closing ceremony was attended by Mairang MDC Equator Nongrang as the chief guest. Also present were Sordar of Pyndengumiong Bornad Syiemiong, District Sports Officer Balarina Syiem, office-bearers of the Pyndengumiong Sports Association (PDSA), invited guests, teachers and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Nongrang congratulated the District Sports Office for successfully conducting the tournament and providing a competitive platform for budding footballers to showcase their talent. He also urged students to stay away from substance abuse and actively participate in sports and other constructive activities.
The State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026 is scheduled to be held in Shillong.
