Shillong, June 26: Mawpdang SC delivered the biggest win of the pre-quarterfinal stage so far after thrashing Golflink SC 8-1 in the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) U-20 4th Division Football League 2026 at the SSA Ground on Friday.
After a dominant first-half display, Mawpdang took the lead through Nameshemphang Pdahsiej in the 23rd minute before Samborlang Langte (29’) doubled the advantage six minutes later. Banaijingshai Kharkongor then struck twice in quick succession in the 35th and 36th minutes to give his side a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
Golflink SC pulled one back through Ribanshan Wahlang in the 50th minute, but Mawpdang quickly regained control of the contest. Marbiang Kharbhih netted in the 72nd and 78th minutes, while Kharkongor completed his hat-trick with a goal in the 77th minute. Samborlang rounded off the scoring with his second goal deep into stoppage time (80+2′) as Mawpdang sealed an 8-1 victory to book their place in the quarterfinals.
Earlier in the day, Mawnianglah Youth SC and Iaitylli SC shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Mawnianglah Youth took the lead through Nicky Mawthoh in the 22nd minute before Iborlang Kharkongor (45’) doubled the advantage just 5 minutes into the second-half.
Iaitylli mounted a second-half comeback after pulling one back in the 62nd minute through an own goal by Mawnianglah Youth SC. Kitbok Maskut then found the equaliser in the 80th minute to ensure the match ended all square.
The pre-quarterfinal action continues on Saturday with Thynroit SC taking on Laitlyngkot SC in the 1 pm fixture, while Phir Kurbah M S&CC will face Seila Sap F&CC at 4 pm, both at the SSA Ground.
