Shillong, May 31: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, led a special edition of the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative in Shillong on Sunday, joining hundreds of cycling enthusiasts at the State Central Library for the government’s flagship fitness drive.

Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, and Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Wailadmiki Shylla, were also present at the event, which was organised under the Fit India Movement in collaboration with Khelo India and the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, part of the Centre’s push to promote active lifestyles and community participation in fitness, drew participants from across age groups. Sunday’s Shillong edition was seen as a boost to the programme’s visibility in the Northeast.
Mandaviya, addressing participants, underlined the importance of making physical fitness a part of daily routine, in keeping with the broader goals of the Fit India Movement.

The initiative is among several nationwide campaigns the government has rolled out under the sports ministry to encourage grassroots participation in fitness and wellness activities.
