Former India all-rounder begins first formal coaching stint ahead of IPL season
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has joined Delhi Capitals as their Assistant and Batting Coach ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, marking his first formal coaching assignment.
The 44-year-old was a key architect of India’s historic triumphs at the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. A veteran of 304 ODIs, 40 Tests and 58 T20Is, Yuvraj enjoyed a distinguished international career and has mentored several established and emerging Indian cricketers in recent years.
His appointment marks a new chapter in his association with the IPL, with Delhi Capitals set to benefit from his experience and expertise as the franchise prepares for the upcoming season.
The move also brings Yuvraj back to a franchise he represented during his playing career. In 2015, Delhi Daredevils, as the team was then known, signed him for a record ₹16 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history at the time.
Yuvraj went on to feature in all 14 matches for Delhi that season. More than a decade later, he returns to the franchise in a coaching capacity, taking on the responsibility of helping shape the team’s batting unit and supporting its players.
