Shillong, Aug 31: Nangkiew Irat continued their strong run in the Shillong Premier League 2026, securing a second straight victory with a 1-0 win over Mylliem at the SSA Stadium here on Monday.
Ronaldkydon Lyngdoh Nonglait scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute to lift Nangkiew Irat to seven points from four matches and into the top four of the 10-team competition.
Mylliem, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of the table after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.
Nangkiew Irat could have made the result more comfortable, particularly in the first half, but their finishing let them down on several occasions.
Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw had two opportunities in quick succession around the half-hour mark. After Sangti Janai Shianglong delivered a good cross from the right, Wallamsuk sent his first attempt over the bar before seeing a tame volley comfortably gathered by Mylliem goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh.
Sangti came close himself moments later, heading just over the crossbar.
Mylliem struggled to create clear openings, although Shaibor Nongrum managed to get a shot away that went well wide after the ball fell to him following referee Wilfred Pohtam Hayong’s intervention to avoid the play.
Nangkiew Irat eventually made their pressure count in the 39th minute. Edyvenson Dhar advanced into the box from the left before picking out Ronaldkydon in front of goal, with the forward making no mistake from close range.
The second half produced fewer clear-cut chances, although Nangkiew Irat came close to doubling their advantage in the 68th minute when Jefferson Pakyntein’s effort crashed against the crossbar.
Mylliem had an opportunity to level 10 minutes later, but Alem Khongwir could not connect with Remark Kharmalki’s cross.
Nangkiew Irat will take confidence from back-to-back wins as they continue their push towards the top of the table, while Mylliem will be looking to arrest their losing run.
The SPL action continues on Tuesday with a much-anticipated clash between Meghalaya Police and Shillong Lajong at 3:40pm.
Both teams have seven points from three matches, with two wins and a draw apiece. Meghalaya Police have emerged as one of the early surprise packages and will face a stern test against five-time champions Shillong Lajong.
